Basics

⚡️One significant aspect of the fitness, rehabilitation, and wellness world is the constant allure of new trends and methods. It’s understandable—trying something new can be exciting and might motivate us to go to the gym, alleviate aches and pains, or transform our bodies. It’s also tempting to switch plans when we grow bored/disappointed with our current exercise program, diet, or therapy, especially when a new option emerges that promises to be fun and fix our bodies this time. However, it’s important to ensure that the choice is truly what works best for our individual needs and goals.

🗣️The influence of someone else's opinion might be positive, but it can often bring an anxious tendency to follow trends, popular social media fads, or what celebrities are doing. This type of motivation is fleeting and often driven by a temporary appeal that will likely change with the next season.

🤔 A couple of years ago, I started exploring loaded flexibility exercises—essentially resistance training through a large range of motion—and incorporated kettlebells into several movements. A colleague once commented that it looked great but asked, “Aren’t kettlebells out of fashion?”

⤑ Over the years, I’ve been late to trends, skipped trends, and even created my own. Looking back at the industry, I’ve come to realize that the power of consistency, making informed decisions, and mastering the basics always triumphs. Today, I hope to inspire this approach, but it’s easy to deviate when there’s a discrepancy between what one needs and what one wants to do.

Simple, but not easy.
