Etape Bornholm 2026
It was my second time running this race, which takes place on the beautiful island of Bornholm. Etape Bornholm features a variety of locations around the island, each with its own unique setting. This diversity provides a versatile running experience, and over the course of the 5-day race, you accumulate a marathon distance. A sold out race. I understand why.
I think this type of setting is much better for most people. Instead of running a marathon in a single day, you spread it out and distribute the load over several days, giving yourself time to recover.
Here is my profile on STRAVA if you want to learn more about the five different routes and GPS coordinates.
Day 1: Hasle 10k – A flat course around the southern part of Hasle. The highlight is the ocean view about halfway through the distance.
Day 2: Dueodde 5.8k – Run on Denmark’s most popular beach, featuring white sand and both headwinds and tailwinds.
Day 3: Almindingen 7.8k – Located in the middle of the island, this stage offers a forest setting. Prepare for a challenging course with a strong final push.
Day 4: Hammeren 8.5k – The Danish course designers aim to challenge runners while also providing a stunning setting. You start by the ocean and finish at the lighthouse. The final climb is an iconic stretch.
Day 5: Rønne 10k – A city race that combines downtown, the harbour, some forest, residential areas, and ends with a heroic finish on the track.
Every afternoon before the race, I held a daily yoga/movement snack/mobility session. Thank you for joining!
Here are some snapshots. Great organization by the local athletic club VIKING ATLETIK and main sponsor NEW BALANCE.
I will be back.
